According to this referendum, it was voted that Qatar should be a constitutional monarchy. Many people would argue that Qatar is only a constitutional monarchy in name only. Some would say that Qatar is run similar to an absolute monarchy.

The House of Al Thani is the official residence of the Emir of Qatar.
Political parties are banned in Qatar.
