Tashkent is the capital city of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It is located in the northeastern region on the Chirchiq River and west of the Ferghana Valley. Tashkent became the capital city in 1930. Tashkent is the largest city In Central Asia and has a booming economy. Due to being occupied by several colonizers, Tashkent population is comprised of more than one culture. The city is mainly known for silk.

The city has a higher population density compared to the rest of the country. Uzbekistan's citizens migrate to the city to benefit from the better economic opportunities in Tashkent.

The city of Tashkent has many interesting tourist sites. They range from monuments, modern memorials, historical buildings, and sightseeing among others. The must-see sights are history museums which contain information from as far back to 5,000 years ago.
