Tennessee Quarter The Tennessee quarter, the 16th in the series and the first quarter to be released in 2002, celebrates the state's musical heritage.

The Tennessee quarter features three musical instruments and a music score with the inscription "Musical Heritage". Three stars on the quarter represent the three regions of Tennessee and the three musical instruments represent each region's distinct style.
The fiddle represents the Appalachian music in eastern Tennessee, the trumpet is indicative of the blues of west Tenneesee for which Memphis is famous, and the guitar is symbolic of central Tennesse and Nashville, home of country music.
