New Hampshire was admitted into the Union on June 21, 1788 becoming our Nation’s 9th State. New Hampshire's quarter features one of its most unique natural attractions, the "Old Man of the Mountain".
This distinctive rock formation was located on Mt. Cannon in northern New Hampshire and depicted the distinct profile of an elderly man facing eastward. This formation collapsed on May 3, 2003.
