arrow Delaware Quarter The Delaware quarter is the first quarter issued in the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters® Program series.

Delaware was admitted into the Union on December 7, 1787 becoming our Nation's 1st state

The quarter depicts the historic ride of Caesar Rodney, a delegate to the Continental Congress. On July 1, 1776 Rodney, while suffering from asthma and cancer, set off for the 80-mile ride to Philadelphia encountering thunderstorms and a severe summer heatwave. He arrived the next day at Independence Hall just in time to cast the deciding vote in favor of our nation's independence.

Rodney held more public offices than any other Delaware citizen. He was also a soldier, judge and speaker of Delaware's Assembly.

The design of the Delaware quarter features Caesar Rodney on his horse, along with the enscription "The First State". Additional details here!
